The best laid plans for our Alchemy campaign shoot were vulnerable to the unpredictable Iceland coast. When the weather threatened to bring everything to a halt, it was one of the locals that believed the clouds would clear — and that was enough to empower everyone on set to face the impossible and create something iconic.
MESHKI's Content Creator, Diya, tells us what it was like that very day on set: the standout style, navigating the wild weather, and how a small moment of contagious faith launched the photoshoot into motion.
For anyone meeting you for the first time, how would you introduce yourself and what you do for MESHKI?
Hi, I'm Diya and I am a TikTok Content Creator at MESHKI. My goal at MESHKI is to create short-form content that highlights our products and connects with our audience in a fun, authentic way. When I'm at work, it might look like I'm just scrolling on my phone, but there's a lot more happening behind the screen. I will most likely be researching the latest TikTok trends, brainstorming creative concepts, filming and editing content, and finding fresh, engaging ways to showcase the MESHKI brand. This role lets me combine creativity with social media strategy, which is something I really enjoy.
You were on set for the Alchemy campaign shoot in Iceland. Did you have a favourite style or photo from the shoot?
The Tiffany Fringe Maxi Dress in Chartreuse was definitely my favourite. Seeing it in Iceland was a completely different experience. There was something so striking about the contrast between the dress and the dramatic black sand beaches, while the fringe moved effortlessly in the wind. It really brought the design to life and made the whole moment feel unforgettable.
Iceland is such a wild backdrop, beautiful but pretty unforgiving too. What was it actually like being out there capturing social content while nature did its own thing?
Capturing content in Iceland was an unforgettable experience. Not only is it one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, but I feel like we experienced a true Icelandic day on the shoot. The weather changed constantly, which added a unique sense of drama to every shot and elevated each piece of content in a way we couldn't have planned. Looking back, those unpredictable conditions are what made the final content feel so authentic.
When we were filming, we'd get so focused on capturing the perfect shot that it was easy to forget where we were. Every few minutes, we had to remind ourselves to stop and look around. The dramatic black sand beaches, mountains, and beautiful scenery made every location feel surreal.
This collection is about uncovering beauty in unexpected places. Was there a moment, on the trip or in the lead up to it, that surprised you and ended up sticking with you?
One moment that really stuck with me happened right at the beginning of the shoot. We were all a little worried because the weather was so unpredictable. Dark clouds had rolled in, it started raining, and you could feel the concern across the team as we wondered whether we’d be able to capture everything we had planned.
Then one of the locals pointed to the tiniest patch of blue sky, honestly it couldn’t have been more than 1% of what we could see, and said, “don’t stress, the sky will clear up soon.” We all looked at him in disbelief because it seemed impossible.
Just a few minutes later, we looked up and the clouds had completely cleared, revealing a bright blue sky. I couldn’t believe how quickly everything had changed. That moment completely changed my perspective and became one of my favourite memories from the trip. It reminded me that sometimes the most incredible experiences come when things don’t go to plan. We arrived expecting challenges, but instead discovered beauty in the most unexpected moments.
It felt like a true reflection of the collection’s message, being open to the unexpected and finding beauty in places and moments you never anticipated.
